Normal Ave - Bathroom Tub to Shower Conversion

Location:

Chico, CA

Date:

2024

Type:

Residential - Bathroom

Project Description:

Project Cost: $5,001 - $7,500

This precision remodel extracted the tub and replaced it with an alcove walk-in shower with tile in linear drain and long horizontal niche. Maintaining a wall spout offers flexibility for all uses. The 12x24 textile-look tile on the back wall and shower floor (Emser Jute Charcoal) extends into the whole bathroom space which was the only element changed outside of the shower. Careful demo preserved the existing paint treatment on the walls as requested by the homeowner. The glossy black subway tile on either end of the new shower balances the black counter and toilet on the opposite side of the room. Richards & Sterling Shangai tile in the niche pulls together the mixed metals and creates a feature. Three different Schluter edges finish the tile perfectly. A glass hinged panel reflects the large existing window and keeps the space feeling open and bright along with new LED recessed cans.
